The Zero Poverty U.S. Malibu Meetup Group

What is Poverty?

It is the year 2025, and little Tommy wants to know what poverty is. His mother opens a history book...
What will she read to him? It is our choice to make a difference NOW. You can do this by following our example and asking your city to declare itself a Zero Poverty Zone, which will ensure that we get the assistance we need to end extreme poverty.

Zero Poverty U.S. mission statement: "Raising Awareness and Supporting Citizens in Taking Action Locally to End Extreme Poverty".

September 6th-8th, the year 2000: Heads of state and world leaders gather at the United Nations for the Millennium Summit which was the largest gathering of world leaders in history. There they adopted the UN Millennium Declaration. This was intended to form a commitment from all the nations that were represented to a create a new global partnership in order to reduce extreme poverty. They then set a series of time-bound targets, with a deadline of 2015, that have become known as the Millennium Development Goals. They have made a Millennium Declaration amongst other things: to eradicate world hunger, and halve extreme poverty by the year 2015.

Our responsibility lies here: To hold our city officials responsible for dealing with the issues surrounding poverty in our cities. Our Mayor, city council and city staff. represent us, we vote them into office. They represent us and our needs when appealing to the state and federal government. We at Zero Poverty U.S. Are here to support you in your efforts, and we believe that the first step is getting your city officials to sign the Proclamation thereby commiting to end extreme poverty in their city.
Our goal is to have Zero Poverty U.S. Millennium Proclamation passed in every city in the US, and have these cities apply the Millennium Development Goals in their communities, especially ending extreme poverty. By submitting the ZeroPoverty.US Millennium Proclamation in each city, starting in Malibu, where it has already been passed as a public policy document will raise awareness, and encourage all organizations, services, city governments, etc. to come together and form an alliance, solidarity, to end extreme poverty in their city. After we gain the support of the cities in each state we will create an apply a statewide referendum that focuses on supporting the Millennium Declaration and the Millennium Development Goals. We will focus on all cities and all states, until each state has its own referendum, so that we can take our campaign to a national level.

So is this then a way to foresee "The End Of Poverty"?

A book written by economist Jeffrey Sachs of the Earth Institute, spells out in an economic plan and way to end poverty by the year 2025. http://www.earth.colu... But is this feasible and does he need the assistance of people like you uniting together as a coalition to end poverty? This answer is YES to both questions, and it is not outside our means. In 1963 president Kennedy talked about putting a man on the moon. It seemed impossible, but it wasn't. We at ZeroPoverty.US seek a solution to end extreme poverty not just throughout the world, but here, in our cities, and our communities, because everyone deserves to have their basic needs met and we need to have justice for those who are hungry, homeless, and hopeless. We can help them to get the things that they need and deserve because life is so precious and must not be undervalued.

"We the People" of the United States of America are the government. If we have enough cities pass our proclamation we can have more influence on holding our government accountable for the the commitment to the Millennium Declaration, and show the importance of applying the Millennium Development Goals in every city in the US in order to both end extreme poverty, and to seek solutions to poverty related issues, You can make a difference now by becoming a member of ZeroPoverty.US through our website, joining our MeetUp Group, and beginning the process of submitting a proclamation to your city or town so that the people where you live support every individual's right to meeting their basic needs. The need is there!!
End to Poverty Now!
