A Superior Tactic, on the Ending of Poverty.
By Jan LightfootLane

American poverty is just blindly believing employers are adequately
paying its workers. The Cure is to turn this myth ionto a reality. A decent wage is where 80% ofthe workers income covers life's esstentials. 10% of wages go to savings, and another 10% goes toward recreation and enhancment of life. Adult ed courses, buying equipment for hobbies.

America has enough resources to wipe out poverty. If we believe in a decent wage, for all.

The small Maine non-profit, is telling politicians to kill poverty by 2011 not 50%. But we ask our politicians to aim for 100% of cure. Hospitality House Inc. is saying ?Do not give us handouts Pay a decent wage.? Micro or Mom and Pop Business?s can receive supplementation by the government.
When this value is accepted, every person in poverty, will walk into the light. Those above the facts of poverty will also be lifted.
In words of one syllable, the Value we must accept, is to end human lack is recognizing the value to pay everyone the cost of living. Plus pay every worker , 10% additional for recreation, and a vacation, plus 10% income to

I went to a Symposium on Poverty at the Augusta Maine Civic Center, in the fall of 07. The groups ran by the people in poverty, wanted to end 100% of poverty NOW. Now, National groups and Politicians Use Us of limited pay. We are used to get men and women elected, and to gather more income for the powerful groups of the poor. They asked next to none of us underpaid this question ?What is an acceptable goal for wiping out poverty??
The people thought as in the 1400?s, that half of this land of plenty?s poor, are bad. So they said according to their survey-The Public only wanted 50% of poverty to end, in a decade or more. That seems like a large inclement of improvement. But if the politicians and National poverty groups continue fighting the lack of funds with out addressing the attitude which mires destitution, they will not win.

At the conference both us at Hospitality House Inc. and POWER from Portland said loudly we want 100% cured. Again, the word of an underpaid, was not given time to make the case, that if only 50% of poverty is cured then only the ?OLD? flawed methods are used. The inadequately paid and mothers on AID , as will as the disabled will be at the mercy of politicians whims, and how the budget is.

The tools are simply:

Yes everyone can be fed and everyone have a bed once the poor or the underpaid
1) Speaks out for themselves-That is where Groups and elected officials, the media come in.
2) Receive a decent wage. One which will open human potential
3) Are free to Exercise their Civil Rights- Courts hear out cases on alleged governmental abuse.
I ask every group on anti-violence, on hunger, on protecting children, anti-poverty, homeless , bringing power to women, etc., to examine this value, and to approve that every working soul should be paid enough to cover the modest costs of the basics, plus be able to save. The disabled, the minimum wage workers, and children without fathers, should have an amount of income, which covers the price of rent.
Today our values, blindly accept, paying hard workers less than the prices of rent. This must be deemed WRONG. We must treat all persons as if each and every one are of the same value, as is Bill Gates, and Oprah.
80% of all incomes must be enough to cover the cost of our living essentials. Then 20% of income will go to the cost of thriving. This is what we ask elected Officials to do. Bring up the quality of humanity. Fight the Real Cause of Poverty.
Look up in your phonebook find your state?s Senators and Representative under the United States. Write them a brief letter simply saying in your own words
1) I want a voice in my government. I also want the working poor the disabled and the Welfare mother to have a voice.
2) I want poverty to be cured, not by throwing some, but nit enough money at the poor. But by TANF mothers, and the disabled, being paid enough to cover rent, and other essentials. And the working poor which are 69% of all of the American Poor, earning wages not just enough to cover the essentials, but enough to save 10% of their income. Then also another 10% of weekly income can go for entertainment and self-enhancement items. Beauty creams, movies, modest vacation, pimple creams, adult education courses.
3) Ask that our American Courts live up to the Ideal of freedom by allowing most cases raising a constitutional issue to be heard-first time. Rather then an early dismissal.
If you cannot find representatives in your state, or feel like doing even more, or live in Maine, also write to the Maine elected officials. US Senator Olympia Snowe, http://snowe.senate.g... Contact information http://collins.senate... again hit contact information. You can use the US mails, to tell these people curing poverty is a promise elected officials are making. You want to see happen.
